Car Driving Schools

Behind-the-wheel lessons are where you actually learn to drive: steering, braking, lane changes, turns, parking and highway merging, with a professional instructor beside you. Most driving schools use cars with a passenger-side brake so the instructor can step in if needed, and many will pick you up from home, school or work.Lessons are usually sold one at a time or in packages, and many schools also offer road test packages that let you use the school’s car on test day. Prices vary, so compare what each package includes. Before you book, confirm the school is licensed in your state. In New York that means the DMV, in New Jersey the Motor Vehicle Commission, and in Pennsylvania the Department of Education. It is also worth asking about instructor experience and which languages lessons are offered in.
